The Short Version
Your audio files, samples, and creative work never leave your Mac. We collect only anonymous timing data to help optimize performance—no audio, no personal information, no tracking of what you create. You can disable this telemetry if you prefer.
What Rings Does Locally
All of the following happens exclusively on your Mac:
- Audio analysis and similarity detection
- Sound generation using on-device models
- Pattern creation and arrangement
- Library indexing and organization
- Project files and preferences storage
What We Collect
From the Application: Performance Telemetry
Rings collects anonymous timing data to help us understand how long audio generation takes on different Mac configurations. This helps us optimize performance across the wide variety of Apple Silicon hardware.
What we collect:
- Timing measurements (how long operations take)
- A randomly generated ID (not linked to your identity)
- Basic system info (macOS version, processor type, number of cores)
- App version and locale
What we never collect:
- Your audio files, samples, or projects
- Your name, email, or any personal information
- What you create or how you use the creative tools
- File names, folder structures, or library contents
This telemetry is processed by Statsig, our analytics provider. You are notified about this when you first launch the app.
Disabling Telemetry
You can disable telemetry by removing the randomly generated user ID from the preferences file. The app will show you the file location when you first launch it. Once removed, no further data will be sent.

Your Data, Your Control
Your audio files, projects, and creative work stay entirely on your Mac. We have no access to this data.
For the anonymous telemetry data: if you want historical timing data deleted, email michael@almostrealism.com with the randomly generated ID shown when you first launched the app. We will request deletion from Statsig.
